Why do a kitchari cleanse?

The 7-Day Advanced Cleanse

Open to previous cleansers only. An additional two days of cleansing is supplemented with daily morning ghee, and closes with a traditional and effective castor oil ritual. Plus, advanced cleansers will get an additional group check-in call for clarity and instructions for Ayurvedic supplements. Please note that the advanced cleanse is contraindicated and not suitable for pregnancy, heart conditions, recent surgeries, high cholesterol, digestive disorders, high anxiety, current cancer treatment, and other advanced medical conditions.

Morning Ghee

  • Ghee is considered to be a nourishing and lubricating
    substance in Ayurveda.

  • Internal consumption of ghee is believed to provide a lubricating effect on the internal organs, supporting the cleansing process while nourishing the tissues.

  • Drinking ghee in small amounts is believed to stimulate agni, enhancing digestive capacity.

Castor Oil Ingestion

  • Castor oil is known for its strong laxative properties, promoting bowel movements and aiding in the elimination of accumulated toxins from the digestive tract.

  • It is believed to help detoxify the body by expelling waste and promoting a clean gastrointestinal system.

What to Expect

Both our Gentle and Advanced Ayurvedic Spring Cleanses are based on a mono-diet of kitchari, a complete protein made from mung beans and rice. Less provocative than other liquid-based cleanses, our cleanse is gentle enough for a diverse range of constitutions and imbalances. However, during the cleanse you may find that long-standing imbalances surface through the detox process as the body intelligently repairs itself. 


You may find yourself physically exhausted or emotionally taxed at times - this is normal. Though because the cleanse is gentler, you should not feel a great deal of discomfort. You will experience ups and downs, as many of the benefits are are felt after the cleansing process.

Making supportive life choices during your cleanse is essential. We encourage:


  • Keeping your activities quieter and more mindful during the week

  • Surrounding yourself with things, environments, and people that will uplift and support you. 

  • Mitigating exposure to stress and minimizing time in frantic or disturbing environments.

  • Greeting intense emotions with compassion, allowing yourself to move through them and trusting the process.

  • Rest as much as you can, as cleansing requires lots of energy.

  • Spending mindful time in nature every day.
